Eden’s Upper School offers a wide variety of activities and athletics for our students to participate in. We encourage everyone to get involved!

Choir

Throughout the year, the students in choir rehearse and work together to sing for a Christmas and a spring concert. We welcome any students who love music and lifting their voice to the Lord!

Mock Trial

Eden’s Mock Trial Team provides Upper School Students with hands-on opportunity to learn about the American legal system. Taking on the roles of lawyers and witnesses, students develop direct and cross-examinations, prepare opening and closing arguments, learn to object to opposing counsel, and practice the formalities of the courtroom. The learning experience culminates in a regional competition, held at the Allegheny County Courthouse, in which students argue their case against other teams in front of a jury of attorneys. Teams have the opportunity to advance to state and national levels of competition. The Mock Trial Team is a great learning experience for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the legal field or are just interested in learning about how a courtroom works.

Yearbook

We work on preparing photos, special events pages, and the Eden Awards page every year. Students have the opportunity to take photos, organize pages, visually design, and help organize photo sessions. At the end of the year, they can be proud that they had a hand in our full color, digital photo yearbook.

Students can participate in grades 7-12.

Student Council

This council is composed of members of all grades.  A council president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and class representatives are chosen by the students themselves to represent the voice of the students.  The group also helps to organize the school dances and many other fun activities that create bonding among the students.  Finally, this council is responsible for fundraising for charitable organizations.  Primarily, the focus on been on fundraising for the Highmark Caring Place which creates an environment of peace, comfort, and council for children and teens who have lost loved ones.  The Caring Place also helps to provide health insurance to children who are not otherwise covered.

National Honor Society (Grades 10-12) and Jr. National Honor Society (Grades 7-9)

These Honor Societies are composed of students that have excelled in academics, leadership, citizenship, service, and character.  These students participate in a variety of school functions that promote good character, citizenship, and service.  A monthly community service project is organized and fulfilled by the members.  Often, students who aren’t members are invited to join as a means to demonstrate desire to become a member of this elite organization.

Drama Club /files/pictures/new/Seuss_04.28.2009_0243.JPG

All grade levels are invited to participate in this club which focuses on improving acting techniques and developing scenery, choreography, music, and staging of our school’s spring musical.  Drama games are played and skits rehearsed.  It is a hope that this drama group may soon be participating in chapel on a regular basis by performing skits, dramatic/humorous monologues, and dramatic/humorous readings.

Robotics Club/files/pictures/42146-042146.jpg

Robotics Club meets on Saturdays.  The team competes in a regional First Lego League competition in December and a local competition in May, on a tabletop obstacle course with Lego robotics kits that can be programmed with your computer.  Last year, the team won three awards:  two 2nd places in software development and research in the December competition, and a 2nd place overall in the May competition.  These competitions are for ages up to and including 14.  We plan to compete for the first time this year in a competition for all high schoolers with a VEX robotics kit.
